Nothing comes easy for the Loveland Indians this year who graduated enough starting seniors to field an entire team. The offense takes on a new look from quarterback to running back and of course wide receiver. A number of key linemen on both sides of the ball are gone as well, but there are some key players and leaders returning this season that could well make the Indians a contender again. Cliff Castle The 3A Tri-Valley League was pared to six teams during the off-season and it may well elevate an unsuspecting team to league champion. Some players and coaches might have considered the league heavily overburdened with ten teams last season. A team that finished 5-4 in league play last season found themselves disqualified from the playoffs. With just six contenders, a 5-0 Tri-Valley record this year might be all that’s necessary to earn a ticket into the playoffs. But consider, three teams tied at 3-2 at the top of the Tri-Valley League could still find themselves at the mercy of their overall won-loss record. Read more »

Cozy and comfortable, staring into the computer screen, searching for answers as to which teams might be at the top of the heap after all the league battles have played out. In a sense, doing so is a disservice to teams … to their players, coaches, fans, and supporters. You see, pouring one’s thoughts into a keyboard doesn’t even begin to come close to the effort of a group of young athletes pouring it all out on a practice field in late summer heat that hovers near 95°. Cliff Castle Today was the first day of the new school year and teams all across northern Colorado took to their respective practice fields preparing for the upcoming football season. As they did so, players at both the 3A and 4A levels are aware that their leagues have been reshaped this season and the repercussions will be monumental during both regular and post-season play.
